Suspect Jumps Into Lake Lanier During Police Chase In Hall Co.: GSP
Authorities said they found methamphetamine and cocaine while arresting the person, who led a police chase that ended in Lake Lanier.
HALL COUNTY, GA — A motorcyclist is facing charges after state authorities say the person jumped into Lake Lanier during a police chase around 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in Hall County.
The Georgia State Patrol said troopers were attempting to conduct a traffic stop on a motorcycle after noticing the driver was not wearing a helmet.
The driver's refusal prompted a police chase, and when the driver turned onto a dead-end road, the person lost control of the motorcycle and crashed, the GSP said.

The person then ran into a wooded area before ultimately jumping into Lake Lanier, the GSP said.
Troopers and a Hall County deputy then boarded a bass boat and pulled the person from the lake, arresting the person, the GSP said.

While investigating, the GSP said authorities found a trafficking amount of methamphetamine and cocaine with the person.
The person, who was never identified, was taken to a nearby hospital for non-threatening injuries and was charged on suspicion of unknown violations related to the police chase, the GSP said. The GSP did not specify charges.
