Here are the top three stories today in Gainesville:

  1. The Hall County Sheriff's Office announced that it has arrested a suspect in the case of an attack on a homeless man on Mar. 8 in Gainesville. Wayne King, 42, is facing counts of aggravated battery and assault stemming from the incident, which took place at a gas station on GA 13 and the Atlanta Highway near Gaines Ferry Road. The victim was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment after the attack. (WGAU)
  2. A 75-year-old Gainseville pilot was found dead following a helicopter crash in Hall County. The pilot was the only one in the Ar 1 experimental helicopter when it struck powerlines and crashed on private property near the 4700 block of Clarks Bridge Road. No other injuries were reported, and both the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the incident. (WSB Atlanta)
  3. Hall County government officials participated in a groundbreaking ceremony for a new expansion at The Georgia Mountain Food Bank on Friday. The new expansion to the food bank's current facility will give the local organization more space to provide food to those in need in the county and was funded through a grant.
