Lighthouse Junior Choir Is 'Spreading Happiness To Our Communities'
"When they saw their songs made many people happy & getting tears, they also started to have thankful hearts that they could serve others."

Gwinnett, GA — Star Students are found in classrooms, on concert and theater stages and at debate lecterns, and out in the community doing good things to make life better for all of us.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize Star Students, and we’re working to tell the stories of these outstanding kids to their neighbors.
This submission comes from Yanghee Kim who nominated Lighthouse Junior Choir.

How do you know the star local student?
I'm the conductor of the Lighthouse Junior Choir which is a non-profit organization. We were established in 2016 as the name of Sesory Choir which means one voice like birds in Korean, but we can not keep going on during the pandemic. But we started again in 2021 with a new name, Lighthouse Junior Choir to give light and hope to the people in a time of great sorrow and despair. Since then we have visited and done performances such as Senior Centers, the Fire Department in the City of South Fulton, the 911 Memorial Event in South Fulton, the State Capitol for the Representatives of the House and Senators, Vet Fest Events for the veterans, at schools, Cultural events for immigrants, Churches, and so on. We have held annual concerts in different cities not only in Conyers, Riverdale, Stockbridge, Norcross, and Johns Creek in Georgia, but in Memphis in Tennessee, Manhattan in NY, Orlando in Florida, New Jersey, and cities in Markham in Canada, too. All the concerts were free for everyone! Many volunteers worked hard to get the donations and all choir members' parents supported us with their budget so that we can keep going on this for our communities!
Why do you believe the star local student should be recognized?
At first, they didn't know how to serve others because they were just kids! They also complained when they practiced for the performance. But when they saw their songs made many people happy and getting tears, they also started to have thankful hearts that they could serve others! Sometimes we need to drive for many hours to get to different locations and practice for many hours for the performances, we enjoy that time and are happy that we can serve others! When we visited Manhattan last year, we performed in one Senior center, we sang "God Bless America". That time one gentleman stood up and put his right hand on his chest. He served in the army when he was young. One of the representatives of the House, Angela Moore, was so touched by our performance during our Summer Concert last year, that she invited us and hosted 3 concerts for us in her districts.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star local student?
Spreading happiness to our communities with their performances!
Congratulations on your achievements, and all of our best wishes to you in the future, Lighthouse Junior Choir!
