Local Hero: Blazer Quietly Makes Life Better In Gwinnett
We all know someone who's making a difference. Here's one local resident who is having an impact in Gwinnett.

GWINNETT, GA — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.
Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.
This submission comes from Barbara Mock, who nominated Marcia Blazer of Gwinnett.

How do you know the local hero?
I met Marcia on the Breast Cancer 3-Day Walk, and she has become a good friend and amazing volunteer.
What does the local hero do?
Marcia sews superhero capes for my charity, Tutu Capers. She has been involved since the very beginning of our group. Tutu Capers makes and delivers superhero capes and tutus to medically-fragile children, primarily to Children's Healthcare of Atlanta, both their hospitals and the Pediatric Care Facility. Before COVID, we met once a month at The Hudgens Center for the Arts, where she would spend the time cutting out capes. She would then go home and sew all month. Since COVID, Marcia has made an average of 10 capes a week for us. She has done over 800 in just the past two years, but I would guess since we started Tutu Capers in 2012, she has made at least 2,000 total. Marcia purchased much of the fabric used in our capes. Marcia gives of herself expecting nothing in return.
Why do you believe the local hero should be recognized or honored?
I think I answered this question in my above answer.
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the local hero?
Marcia is selfless. She is hardworking and kind. She has made thousands of hospitalized kids a little happier because of what she does.
Thank you for all you do, Marcia Blazer!
