Gwinnett County holds its household hazardous waste collection event on Feb. 7th (atlantaonthecheap.com) — Gwinnett County residents can drop off household hazardous waste for free at the Gwinnett County Fairgrounds on Saturday, February 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. You may bring up to five containers of accepted items like paints, automotive fluids, batteries, and pesticides, but your containers won’t be returned. Dramatic police chase to catch Gwinnett County burglary suspect caught on video (wsbtv.com) — A Gwinnett County homeowner’s quick 911 call and live video updates helped police capture a suspected burglar after a dramatic foot chase on Singleton Road. Officers say the December incident shows how fast reporting and home security tools can aid responses; the suspect remains jailed in Gwinnett without bond.

Car theft suspect caught wearing nothing but tablecloth, police say (azfamily.com) — A man was arrested in Gwinnett County after police say he tried to steal multiple vehicles, at one point reportedly wearing only a tablecloth and taking keys from a home before driving off in a Mercedes-Benz. Officers recovered the car and charged him with theft, burglary, entering autos, loitering and prowling, and driving without a valid license.

Suspect arrested in killing of young woman outside DeKalb County gas station, deputies say (atlantanewsfirst.com) — Gwinnett County deputies helped U.S. Marshals and DeKalb authorities arrest a Norcross man at a Gwinnett County hospital in connection with a deadly October shooting. The 22-year-old suspect is accused of killing a 21-year-old woman caught in crossfire at a DeKalb County gas station and has been booked into the Gwinnett County Jail pending transfer.

5. Every Georgia High School Eligible for Grant Funding from Arthur M. Blank Family Foundation, Atlanta Falcons to Support Girls Flag Football (atlantafalcons.com) — Gwinnett County’s early role in launching girls flag football is paying off as every high school in Georgia, including those in Gwinnett, can now apply for new grant funding to start or expand teams.
