Death Notice: Ophelia Mitchell

Ophelia Mitchell, 89, of Canton, died Oct. 5 at her home. 

Funeral services will be at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Sosebee Memorial Chapel. Internment will follow at Bethany Baptist Church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 9 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday and 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday.

Mitchell was a homemaker and member of Pleasant Union and the Canton Eastern Star. She enjoyed traveling, reading and playing bingo. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Hiram Milford Mitchell. Survivors include daughters, Helen Smith of Canton, Bernice (Bob) Pope of Anniston, AL, and Hazel (Jim) Martin of Steinhatchee, FL; grandchildren, Robin Smith, Keith (Tracy) Pope, Geneboy (Donna) Smith, Kevin Pope, Quincy (Jennifer) Pope and 17 grandchildren.
