Happy Father’s Day To Clifford Dean Meece, Sr.
"My dad was a man of few words, but boy did he make them count when he used them!"

In celebration of Father's Day on Sunday June 17, we asked Patch readers to write a letter to their father and let us deliver it. This is Danny Meece's letter to his dad:
Clifford Dean Meece, Sr. was an incredibly hard working and sacrificial man to both his family and his country. He was the father of nine (myself being the youngest), a United States Marine who served his country with honor during the Korean Conflict and a truck driver from the day he left the Marines until he passed.
My dad was a man of few words, but boy did he make them count when he used them! He taught me so many things in and about life, more by example than words — hard work, diligence, respect, honor and optimism are the ones that immediately come to mind. Seemingly an unapproachable man when I was a young boy, he became a very close friend and confidant as I entered my 20s. As my photo shows, he stood as best man in my wedding!
About one week after I became a father, he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. He got to hold and know my son for a little over one year but never met my daughter. Today, my son graduates from Sequoyah High School.
Though he’s been gone from his family for years, he's missed just as much each and every day. Love you, Pop! I'd like you to meet a community I now call home — Holly Springs, Georgia. Thank you.
