Holly Springs Wants Residents To Clean Up Hickory Road

The city is calling for volunteers to participate in its Great American Cleanup event later this month.

The city of Holly Springs wants its residents to volunteer in its Great American Cleanup event.

The city's event will be held at 9 a.m. Saturday April 27 and volunteers are asked to clean up litter and debris along Hickory Road starting at Cherokee FOCUS. 

The nonprofit is located at 100 Hickory Circle.

The Great American Cleanup, an initiative of Keep America Beautiful, is a nationwide event in which roughly 1,200 affiliates and partnering organization will bring together millions of volunteers to "create more vibrant, beautiful, cleaner and safer towns and cities," according to the city's press release.

In 2012, there were 4.2 volunteers who returned roughly $230 million in "measurable benefits" in 20,000 communities across the nation, according to the Great American Cleanup's website.
