Paying for My Raising

My generation is getting paid back for those "some assembly required" toys.

Every Christmas my dad brings up the story of the Barbie Dream House fiasco of 1993. From what I understand, the dream house came in about 5,000 pieces and took 15 hours to assemble. They stayed up all night putting tiny leaves on tiny bushes and tiny labels on tiny cans.

Now, as I sit here programming my mom’s new iPad, I’ve decided that my generation is firmly paying for our raising.

No, we don’t have to put tiny toys together, but we do have to program all electronics. Instead of assembling toy cars, we have to guess what app they’re talking about when they talk about β€œthose ugly little blobs” and mean Angry Birds.

I’m not complaining. We owe them this. It’s just payback for the endless doll houses and toys they had to assemble for us.

Anyways, I hope you all had a great Christmas and are in the middle of a great holiday season depending on what you celebrate.
