Thankful for the Little Things

Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens and nobody knows the rest of those words. Bright copper mittens and warm woolen kittens, or something like that.

Often times, I look back on my day and it’s the little joys that made it good.

C.S. Lewis in his book Surprised by Joy wrote, β€œIt is not settled happiness but momentary joy that glorifies the past.”

Of course Lewis, one of the all-time great minds, was probably thinking about things far beyond my comprehension. But still, there are tiny things that spark my day into motion and make life just a touch better. Sure, you could live without the little things, but I’m so much happier when I count my blessingsβ€”no matter how small.

Editor's note: I think this is the only time in the history of everything that Barney Stinson, C.S. Lewis and The Sound of Music will ever be mentioned together. Think about that.Β
