Words of Faith

A Holly Springs small-business owner runs two Christian publishing houses out of her home.

It wasn’t exactly the writing on the wall that pushed this small business owner into her career. It was more like the writing on the e-readers.

Tracy Ruckman has launched into the publishing world, one page at a time. The Christian writer runs two publishing houses out of her own home on the Canton- border.

Ruckman, who is also a full-time student inΒ Regent University's online program, runs Pix-n-Pens and Write Integrity publishing after she felt God nudging her into the publishing industry, she said.

While both are independent publishing houses, Pix-n-Pens is strictly evangelical literature while and Write Integrity includes any project that is β€œwholesome, entertaining and inspiring,” Ruckman said.

β€œOur mission is to spread the gospel with Pix-n-Pens,” Ruckman said.

True to nature, Ruckman is in the minority of Christian publishers because she refuses to publish some of the edgier Christian novels that are gaining popularity in mainstream markets.

β€œSome publishers won’t publish anything with a conversion scene, but some stories require that,” Ruckman said. β€œWhat’s more important than our salvation? Nothing.”

Since opening in June, Ruckman has published three books with another two due out early next year.

Her writers come from all overβ€”one from Kentucky, one from North Carolina and one from New Zealand.

All of her booksβ€”some of which she authored and co-authoredβ€”are available in e-book form.

Although the books she accepts are in all formsβ€”collaborations, fiction, testimonials, and non-fictionβ€”her specialty is in Christian mystery. Write Integrity publishes books that have a strong, suspenseful plot but shield the reader from the gory details.

β€œOur goal is to leave hope in the end,” Ruckman said. β€œBad things happen in life, but we have to have hope in the end.”

Ruckman is open to submissions. Email her at tracyruckman@yahoo.com or see her website at tracyruckman.com.Β
