Color-Changing Lights Added To Johns Creek Pedestrian Tunnel
Starting Saturday, Sept. 8, the pedestrian tunnel under Medlock Bridge Road will take on a different look after dark.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — A splash of color will be added this weekend to the Johns Creek Tunnel. That's according to the Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau, which said color-changing lights will be visible after dark starting Saturday, Sept. 8.
The lights are the latest in the Bureau's Tourism Product Development initiative to enhance the pedestrian underpass on S.R. 141/Medlock Bridge Road. The tunnel's east entrance is located near 11695 Medlock Bridge Road.
The lights will the city a unique attraction the Bureau can market throughout the year, said Lynda Smith, chair of the Johns Creek Convention and Visitors Bureau. Illuminated by white LED lights during the day, the Johns Creek Tunnel will take on a different look after dark and has the ability to change colors throughout the year.

"You might see orange on Halloween or red and green for the holidays," Smith said. "The colorful lights will give visitors a new perspective of the tunnel each time they walk though."

The Johns Creek Tunnel was one of the first Tourism Development Projects in the city. Shelby Marzen, executive director of the JCCVB, said the mural has "transformed an average walkway into a destination."
“The tunnel is located walking distance to the hotels in Johns Creek and is frequently used by business and leisure travelers to access nearby restaurants and shops," Marzen added. "The tunnel plays a role in improving the visitor experience for overnight guests."
