Here are the top three stories today in and around Johns Creek:

  1. Johns Creek's Khadijah Bronson, the parent of a kindergarten student at Barnwell Elementary, hosted a DIY kindergarten graduation ceremony for her son and classmates. The ceremony was held as a stand-in for an official ceremony, which the school did not facilitate in the 2022-2023 year. Initially planned as a family and friends event, Bronson sent invitations to other members of her son's class, and others at Barnwell, leading to a cookout and pool party graduation funded and facilitated all by the Johns Creek mother. 2. Locals may take art installations throughout public parks and libraries in Fulton County for granted, but they're actually part of a $7.6 million collection owned by the county government, totaling 618 pieces in 67 different locations throughout Fulton Co. The cumulative figures come from a recent insurance assessment performed by the county, and while impressive, it's still dwarfed by the total value of the art owned by Atlanta's municipal institutions. The value of Fulton Co.'s collection is only a third of what the Atlanta city government holds. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  3. A fire in nearby South Fulton is under investigation by DeKalb County officials. First responders were dispatched at around 2:00 a.m. on Jun. 25 to an apartment complex where 10 units were severely damaged, displacing 14 people. The cause of the fire is currently unknown, with arson still on the table as a possibility. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
