The expansion will add 108,500 square feet to Physician's Plaza as well as 640 additional parking spaces.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Emory Johns Creek Hospital recently broke ground on an expansion project that will add four new stories atop Physician's Plaza and a new parking deck.
Construction on the plaza is expected to be completed by May 2021, and the parking garage should be done the following month.
The hospital said in a release Friday that the expansion, all told, will add 108,500 more square feet and 640 additional parking spaces at Physician's Plaza. It's projected to come with a price tag of $30 million.

The project also includes the addition of two new elevators and a separate entrance for patients at Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University in Johns Creek.
“We’re thrilled to expand Physician’s Plaza, our hospital and build a new parking deck to better serve our growing patient population,” hospital CEO Marilyn Margolis said in a statement. “It’s our top priority that our patients receive outstanding medical care and their experience is as comfortable as possible, from the time they arrive to our campus until they leave.”

The new project joins ongoing efforts to expand EJCH's existing acute care hospital. According to the release, crews are working today to add two new floors and 40 beds to the existing hospital.
In addition to more beds, the acute care hospital expansion is set to add large windows for natural light, LED lighting and low-emitting interior finishes. The ongoing construction is being completed with more environmentally friendly efforts.
“In response to our growing patient volumes and workforce, it’s essential that we’re equipped with resources, such as the new parking deck to support our patients, visitors and staff,” EJCH vice president of operations Laurie Hansen said in a statement.
