Fall Vegetable Gardening Classes Set For Next Week

Learn how to successfully grow cool season vegetables.

When: Tuesday, August 23, 7:00 pm - 8:30 pm
Where: Bill Johnson Community Activity Bldg, Roswell Area Park, 10495 Woodstock Rd, Roswell

Also: Wednesday, August 24, 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm
Where: Alpharetta Engineering/Public Works Dept, 1790 Hembree Rd, Alpharetta

Our extended growing season allows us to get three seasons of vegetables. Autumn's mild temperatures create perfect growing conditions for cool-season crops, such as lettuce, spinach, broccoli and carrots. The class covers: summer vs fall season crops; sustainable gardening techniques; direct seeding and transplanting; frost protection; preparing the garden for winter. Taught by the UGA Extension in Fulton County and North Fulton Master Gardeners.

For the Roswell class, register online www.roswellgov.com, Register for Rec Program, select Activity 52020.

For the Alpharetta class, register by calling (678) 297-6200.
