Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- Fulton County Chairman Robb Pitts said blood will be on the hands of the Atlanta City council members whose actions are delaying the transfer of county inmates to the downtown city jail. According to Pitts, the overpopulation crisis at the county jail has already cost one inmate their life in September. While waiting on the council, nearly 500 county inmates are reportedly sleeping on the floor in doggie trays. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- The Johns Creek Police Department (JCPD) launched the "Worth-It-Wednesdays" reading program, which was conceived by Johns Creek Police Chief Mark Mitchell. The JCPD will read to Fulton County School (FCS) elementary students in Johns Creek city district every Wednesday. Chief Mitchell said, "We want kids running to us not away from us." Johns Creek Police Communications Lieutenant Officer Debra Coble said, "The biggest benefit is building that bond with our community… and knowing that we are here for them."
