Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- The Johns Creek Fire Department is debuting a new air and light apparatusin service. The new vehicle, custom-built for Johns Creek first responders, is meant to be used to provide supplemental lighting and self-contained breathing air bottles during emergency situations. In the event of a prolonged structure fire, the new vehicle can provide a mobile refilling station for clean, breathable air that firefighters must carry with them into burning buildings. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
- Police in Johns Creek confirmed that three people have been jailed as a result of the Jun. 3 high-speed chase that ended with a crash and continued on foot. On Jun. 3 at around 3:00 a.m., officers spotted a vehicle going more than 90 mph westbound on McGinnis Ferry Road. Just after police began pursuing the vehicle, the driver lost control and crashed the car into a wall, leading to officers following the four people in the vehicle on foot, with three of them being arrested shortly afterward. Investigators have confirmed that the car was stolen from Gwinnett County, and the suspects were wearing masks, gloves, and dark clothing to avoid identification. (WSB-TV)
- Nearby Peachtree Corners in Fayette County has been named the best place for families to live in the state of Georgia, and ranked at number 19 nationally, in Fortune Magazine's 50 Best Places to Live for Families. Peachtree Corners City Manager Brian Johnson acknowledged that the reputation of Peachtree Corners as a desirable family-friendly place to live is a result of the committed efforts and exceptional work of its city employees.
