First Phase Of Johns Creek's Cauley Creek Park Under Construction
Construction of the new park will be complete in the spring of 2021, city officials said.
JOHNS CREEK, GA — The first segment of the Cauley Creek Park trail is officially under construction. City officials held a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday afternoon to celebrate the milestone.
Mayor Mike Bodker and council members Brian Weaver, Stephanie Endres, and Erin Elwood joined members of the city’s recreation & parks advisory committeeas well as representatives of the Chattahoochee National Park Conservancy and Trust for Public Land to mark the official start of construction on the 3.1-mile trail.
According to city officials, the new trail segment will be 14 feet wide and approximately 2,500 feet long and made of a durable rubberized material, which makes it one of the only rubberized 5,000 trails in the United States.

The 192-acre property is located in the eastern half of the city adjacent to the Rogers Bridge Trail and the proposed Rogers Bridge connection over the Chattahoochee River to Duluth. Plans for the park include more than three miles of multi-use trials, two steel pedestrian bridges, three wildlife observation decks and a river overlook deck.
The majority of the Cauley Creek Park project is funded through the parks bond, which was approved by voters in 2016. The city has committed $17 million of the Parks Bond funds towards the development and construction of Cauley Creek.

Construction will be complete in the spring of 2021, city officials said. New construction on the rest of Cauley Creek Park is expected to begin next summer.
