Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- Johns Creek Mayor John Bradberry spoke about the fight between Fulton County and its 15 cities over the local option sales tax (LOST). The decision could raise property taxes for homeowners and impact every taxpayer in Fulton County. Bradberry said if the county cuts the cities’ LOST share,"it's going to be the cities or the actual taxpayers themselves that wind up footing the bill. The cities are going to look like the bad guy because we're the ones that will have to cut services or raise taxes, but really it’s the county that’s putting us in this very difficult position." (WBS Radio)
- Today, Sep. 22, the Fulton County Board of Education will vote on a proposal to install license-plate readers at all of its 106 schools. The cameras would be placed at the entrance of the school campuses to improve security. The camera would flag stolen cars, vehicles suspected of involvement in crimes, people convicted of major crimes, and people banned from campus. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Today, Sep. 22, at 6:00 p.m. there will be a public meeting for community members to provide input on the City's Recreation & Parks Strategic Master Plan. The meeting will take place at Johns Creek City Hall, located at 11360 Lakefield Drive. Click on the link to view the meeting online. (City of Johns Creeks)
