Here are the top three stories in Johns Creek today:
- This Saturday, Oct. 22, all Johns Creek residents are invited to Georgia's first city-sponsored Diwali festival hosted by Johns Creek at Shakerag Park. The event runs from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and will include vendors, Indian jewelry and clothing shops, Indian food, live music, fireworks, and cultural performances. According to Appen Media, this is the "first city and community-organized Diwali event in the state of Georgia." Visit the city's website for more information about the festival. (Appen Media)
- Johns Creek Mayor John Bradberry announced that residents can now recycle glass by dropping it off at the designated container in the Ocee Park parking lot. Bradberry said, "By making this option available to residents, we enable greater conservation and the diversion of these materials from landfills. This is all part of our City's new certification as an ARC 'Green Community.'" (Johns Creek GA)
- The City of Johns Creek posted a Cauley Creek Park construction update yesterday, Oct. 19. Work continues with the trail underpass and creating the main entrance. The synthetic turf has been installed on two of the rectangular fields. The sport courts are currently being poured. Construction crews will pave the park's roads next.
