  1. Access Atlanta's Gabrielle Garza has compiled a helpful list of options for 4th fireworks viewing ahead of this year's Independence Day. Some of the Fulton County and Atlanta metro-area options available are: The Roof at Ponce City Market, with family-friendly options for activities and dinner options like 9 Mile Station; Look Up Atlanta, downtown, on Jul. 1, including a performance by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra; Johns Creek's own Newtown Park Independence Day Celebration on Jul. 3; Roswell Area Park's 4th celebration, and more! (Access Atlanta)
  2. The Johns Creek Police Department is asking for the community's help in supporting Officer Hennessee and his wife, Ena, who has unfortunately been diagnosed with an aggressive form of ovarian cancer. Ena's friend, Amber Mendez, has begun a GoFundMe to raise money for treatment as well as home bills. Those who wish to contribute can do so online. (JCPD via Instagram)
  3. Nearby Sandy Springs' Education Force (SSEF) is working to support lower-income students in the public school system - most recently, by running a Summer Book Club for students from Dunwoody Springs and Ison Springs Elementary schools. The SSEF is employing public school teachers to lead the club for a period of six weeks, during which students will participate virtually. The SSEF's Summer Book Club performed above expectations last year, with 85.7 percent of participants maintaining or improving their reading scores, and 64 percent improving overall.
