Man Injured In Officer-Involved Shooting In Johns Creek
The shooting took place after the subject allegedly drove a vehicle into a Johns Creek police car, the Georgia Bureau of investigation said.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation is investigating an officer-involved shooting reported early Sunday in Johns Creek. The events unfolded when police tried to make a traffic stop on a Ford Fusion that was failing to maintain its lane of travel around 4:08 a.m. Dec 23.
According to preliminary information provided to the GBI by police, the Fusion initially did not pull over and cops continued to pursue the car.
"The vehicle failed to stop and tried several evasive maneuvers, to include driving through a gated neighborhood and driving the wrong way on State Bridge Road," the Johns Creek Police Department added.

The Ford eventually pulled into the Target/Home Depot shopping center at 5950 State Bridge Road. Officers approached the vehicle, but the Ford's driver allegedly put the car in reverse and backed into a patrol car. Officers fired upon the car, but the Ford Fusion drove away from the scene through the parking lot. Johns Creek cops returned to their cars and followed the Ford, but the driver, identified as 25-year-old Antonio Tinajero, got out of the car and continued to run on foot, the GBI states.

Tinajero was captured and taken into custody. Police discovered he was injured from the shooting, and was transported to North Fulton Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. He was treated and released and booked into the Fulton County Jail. No Johns Creek officers were injured in the incident.
Tinajero is charged with aggravated assault against a peace officer, vehicles to drive on right side of roadway, fleeing and attempting to elude police and failure to maintain lane. Fulton County Jail records show Tinajero remains held without bond.
Once the GBI completes its review, it will hand over the case file to the Fulton County District Attorney's Office.
