North Fulton Student Wins Grant To Host Lacrosse Clinic

Mount Pisgah Christian School's Malik Gay works to expand the sport of lacrosse through a service grant.

From Mount Pisgah Christian School: Malik Gay, a junior at Mount Pisgah Christian School in Johns Creek, GA, has been awarded a 2016 Disney Summer of Service grant to expand the sport of lacrosse in the region. At 16 years old, the inaugural US Lacrosse Association Diversity essay competition winner has further demonstrated a commitment to grow the game of lacrosse through the company he founded, LaxLik Strings (LaxLik.com).

Youth Service America (YSA) and The Walt Disney Company, including Disney|ABC Television Group and Disney Consumer Products and Interactive Media, teamed up to inspire kids and families to make a positive impact in their community. Disney Summer of Service grants offer young change-makers $500 to gather their friends and turn creative ideas into projects that will positively impact their communities. National winners were awarded individual grants to implement their projects.

In partnership with the Mount Pisgah Christian School athletic department, Malik will host a free lacrosse clinic at the school to introduce new students to the sport of lacrosse.

Malik is excited about the opportunity. “I am so grateful that I was chosen out of so many applications. I want to give back to the sport that has given so much to me.”
