Here are the top stories today in and around Johns Creek:

  1. Police are currently investigating a shooting at a Fulton County apartment complex that occurred the evening of Tuesday, Jun. 13, and left one man dead. Law enforcement arrived on the scene at the Metropolitan Garden homes on Martin Luther King Jr. Drive in Atlanta at roughly 9:20 p.m., and found a man who had been shot several times and was not breathing. The victim has been identified as Gary Tyner, 23, with no arrests made and no motive determined as of Wednesday. (Subscription: Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
  2. Homeowner surveillance footage appears to show possible suspects in the case of a nearby Roswell subdivision that has been the site of the distribution of anti-Semitic and anti-trans literature. The video, recorded in Roswell's Edenwilde neighborhood on Memorial Day weekend, shows the passenger of a white car tossing bags of leaflets onto yards and driveways. The investigation is still ongoing, but some are concerned that even if the suspects are identified, their distribution of leaflets and flyers may be protected by the First Amendment if it cannot be proven to be targeted harassment. (WSB-TV)
  3. In case you missed it: Here in Johns Creek, in nearby Sandy Springs, in Alpharetta, and throughout Fulton County, municipal and local governments and groups of residents are celebrating Juneteenth to commemorate the abolition of slavery and to celebrate Black culture. Johns Creek's Juneteenth event will be held in Newtown Park with performances by Kennedi Washington, Daya Newton, and others. A complete schedule of the performances and festivities can be found at the Johns Creek city website. (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)
