State Rep. Kausche Takes Office, Learns Committee Assignments

State Representative Angelika Kausche represents House District 50, which includes Johns Creek.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — State Rep. Angelika Kausche, the newly elected Democrat from Johns Creek, took her oath of office last week as a member of the Georgia House of Representatives.

Kausche was sworn in on Monday, Jan. 14, marking her first term in the 155th legislative session of the Georgia General Assembly. The state representative was also named to the Higher Education, Natural Resources & Environment and Small Business committees.

“I am honored to serve the people of Johns Creek and all Georgians," Kausche said. "I believe my committee assignments align with my district’s needs, and I am very excited to have been assigned to the Higher Education Committee. I am looking forward to working with, and for, my constituents on the important issues in our district and in Georgia.”

Kausche, a retired professor, defeated former Johns Creek City Council member Kelly Stewart to represent House District 50 constituents. The seat was formerly held by Brad Raffensperger, who resigned from the post to pursue his successful bid to become Georgia's secretary of state.

The House Committee on Assignments, chaired by House Speaker David Ralston, is tasked with making all House committee assignments for the members of the Georgia House of Representatives.
