Here are the top three stories today in and around Johns Creek:
- Fulton County's District Attorney, Fani Willis, continues to be a target of former president and returning presidential candidate Donald Trump for her ongoing grand jury probe on alleged election interference by the 45th president's 2020 presidential campaign. At Georgia's Republican convention on Jun. 10, Trump took another jab at Willis. She is slated to announce whether there will be charges pursued against Trump as a result of her investigation by the end of August. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- Nearby Cobb County police shot and killed an armed man alleged to have assaulted a woman living on Michael Drive in Marietta. The Saturday, Jun. 10, shooting occurred shortly before 4:00 p.m., when police were called to the Michael Drive area, and the situation at the scene spiraled when it became clear that the man had a gun. At some point, officers opened fire, hitting the man several times. It is currently too early in the investigation process to say for sure whether the man pointed the weapon at police before they opened fire. (Fox 5 Atlanta)
- A nearby DeKalb County woman has been killed in a shooting at a food mart on Holcombe Road on the evening of Saturday, Jun. 10. According to DeKalb Co. police, officers arrived on the scene around 7:00 p.m. and found the 27-year-old woman suffering from a gunshot wound. She was transported to a nearby hospital where she later died of her injuries. Authorities believe that she was shot while leaving the store, and there is no confirmation yet regarding the motive.
