Walk With A Doc Program Launches In Johns Creek

The initiative co-hosted by the city and Emory Johns Creek Hospital allows residents to ask doctors medical questions in a casual setting.

JOHNS CREEK, GA — Emory Johns Creek Hospital and the city of Johns Creek are joining forces to encourage residents to improve their health with a new initiative. The Walk with a Doc program brings patients and doctors together to walk at Newtown Park. The inaugural walk will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, and will continue on the second Saturday of each month.

“We’re thrilled to partner with the city of Johns Creek to help educate the community about a variety of health topics while getting them moving at the same time,” said Marilyn Margolis, CEO of Emory Johns Creek Hospital. “The Walk with a Doc program gives participants a personalized opportunity to ask medical questions in a more casual setting."

Each walk will feature a different health topic, each selected to provide information and the opportunity for walkers to ask questions one-on-one with the participating physician. The first walk will be hosted by Dr. Maria Piraner, director of the Center for Breast Care at Emory Johns Creek Hospital. Coinciding with Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Dr. Piraner will discuss the importance of breast cancer early detection, prevention, and tips to stay healthy.
