2 Cobb Officers Injured After Motorist Hits Their Patrol Cars: Police
One of the two Cobb County police officers injured during a traffic stop Sunday is in stable condition.
KENNESAW, GA — Two Cobb County police officers were injured Sunday after a motorist hit their patrol cars during a traffic stop, pinning one of the officers between a patrol car and a guardrail, police said Monday.
According to the Cobb County Police Department, officers Gary Marsicek and Katelynne Daws were taking a person into custody around 12:15 a.m. during a stop on Interstate 75 north, near the Ernest Barrett Parkway overpass.
While securing the person into a patrol car's back seat, a 2021 Honda Accord hit the first patrol car — a Ford Taurus — before hitting the second patrol car — a Ford Explorer, Cobb police said.

According to authorities, both patrol cars had their flashing blue lights on, and one of the cars was in the right shoulder while the other was sitting in the far right lane.
Cobb police said Marsicek was pinned between the Ford Explorer and a guardrail. He was taken to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital with serious injuries and was reported to be in stable condition.

Daws had minor injuries and was released from Wellstar Kennestone, police said.
The person that was being taken into custody was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries, police said. A passenger in the traffic stop was uninjured and released from the scene, police said.
Cobb police identified the driver of the Honda Accord as Ito Sakae, 41, of Woodstock.
Police said Sakae did not report any injuries and was taken into custody.
