Cobb Teacher Accused Of Sexually Engaging A Student Charged: Report
The accused Harrison High School teacher and coach is facing sexual assault and solicitation of sodomy charges, a media report says.
KENNESAW, GA — Harrison High School teacher Eric Taylor Butler, 28, is accused of soliciting a sex act from a teenage student, on one occasion asking the 16-year-old girl to give him oral sex, the Marietta Daily Journal reported Wednesday.
Citing an arrest warrant, Butler is accused of engaging in sexually explicit conversations with the student through text messages and phone calls from June until sometime this week, the MDJ reported.
Butler is a social studies teacher and assistant baseball coach, the outlet reported, though his name does not appear on the school's website.

Cobb County Schools sent the following statement to Patch:
“A staff member was arrested for alleged inappropriate and criminal behavior. We are cooperating and working closely with the authorities to conclude the investigation and will continue to work hard every day to ensure our campuses are secure and a safe place for students to learn and grow. We encourage students, staff, and parents to visit Cobb Shield to learn more about how the district keeps students safe and to report any safety concerns to the district’s tipline via call, text or email.”

Butler's name was also not listed in inmate records for the Cobb County Jail, where he was reportedly being held on a $55,000 bond on suspicion of sexual assault by a teacher, principal, assistant principal or other administrator and solicitation of sodomy.
Cobb County Police confirmed to Patch the arrest of a Cobb teacher but would not release additional details due to the nature of the incident involving a minor.
