It appears as though Derek Easterling will be the new Mayor of Kennesaw. Easterling has 56 percent of the votes, while former councilwoman Debra Williams has 44 percent. Jim Eaton holds a similar 56-44 lead in his Ward 1 race against Steve Creason. Incumbent Tim Killingsworth is battling Yvette M.A. Daniel and is in danger of losing his seat, with Daniel earning 51 percent of the votes.

Ward 4 another tight race, with Jimmy Dickens ahead of Bruce Jenkins by a 40-35 percent margin. Jon Whitmer is bringing up the rear with 23 percent of the electorate. It’s likely Dickens and Jenkins are heading to a runoff.

The two people vying for the mayor’s office are former city councilwoman Debra Williams and Awtrey Middle School PTSA president and former Cobb County sheriff’s deputy Derek Easterling.

To replace Williams in Post 4, voters will choose between Jimmy Dickens, Bruce Jenkins, and John Whitmer. In Post 1, Steve Creason and Jim Eaton are vying to become the successor to Cris Eaton-Welsh. Post 2 incumbent Tim Killingsworth will try to fend of a challenge from Yvette M. A. Daniel.

Post 3 incumbent Leonard Church and Post 5 incumbent Jim Sebastian’s terms are not complete until 2017 and are therefore not on Tuesday’s ballot.

The Cobb County Board of Elections and Registrations has set up an online results list which will begin updating once the polls close.
