Former Councilman Now Inmate

Leonard Church, who pleaded guilty to child molestation charges early last month, is now living in a state prison near Savannah.

Former Kennesaw mayor and city council member Leonard Church has a new name: 1001688600.

Church, who pleaded guilty to child molestation charges on Dec. 7, has been an inmate at Long State Prison in Ludowici since Dec. 9, Georgia Department of Corrections records show. Ludowici is in Long County and is roughly an hour southwest of Savannah.

Long State Prison is a medium-security facility that houses up to 232 male inmates in four open dormitories, according to the department. There are also isolation and segregation cells.

The prison offers on the job vocational training, re-entry classes, and cognitive behavior groups meant to help inmates better cope with the outside world and learn how to be productive members of society.

Inmate Church’s maximum possible release date is Dec. 3, 2033, at which time he would be 85 years old.
