Ink Technician Needed

Overview:

Agfa, is a world leader in prepress solutions for the commercial, newspaper and packaging printing industries.  In addition, we are quickly expanding our assortment for the fast-growing market of industrial inkjet printing with the development of state-of-the-art printers and inks for applications such as billboards, packages and decoration.

Agfa is currently looking for an Ink Techincian to join our team in the Kennesaw, GA region.

Responsibilities:

• Ink manufacturing according to industry standards by measuring and processing vendor supplied base colors. Perform the necessary testing/analysis to ensure standards are met. Make adjustments to color as required.
• Technical Assistance through solving customer issues as they relate to ink use in the printing press operation.
• Special color matching based on customer provided samples and specifications. Requires ink formulation and testing/analysis as outlined below.
• Ink formulation as needed to account for variances in base colors, variances in coating or color of paper or other printing material. Use of mathematic equations to acquire necessary measurements.
• Testing and analysis of tack using a tachometer, strength testing by use of a Little Joe Press, and color quality testing and analysis through use of spectrometer readings and visual analysis.
• Inventory control procedures through accurate recording of products received, used and wasted.

Qualifications:

Education  

High School Diploma

Experience      

Minimum 5 years experience in manufacturing PMS/special match inks. Experience with Little Joe Press, Spectrometer, Tachometer. Knowledge of printing press operations required.

Specific skills

Ability to see colors clearly and accurately.  Strong customer service skills.  Mathematical competency.  Proficiency with X-rite software and spectrometer.  Attention to detail. Ability to multi-task.  Problem solving abilities.  Highly organized.
