Kennesaw McDonald’s Offers Free Sandwiches as ‘Mac Jr. Taste Kitchen’ on Thursday

KENNESAW, GA -- The golden arches are about to be a little more gilded this week, at least at one Cobb County restaurant.

The McDonald’s located at 4415 Wade Green Road in Kennesaw will transform into “Mac Jr. Taste Kitchen” on Thursday, an unprecedented experiment for the world’s top-selling fast-food brand.

Customers that visit the location from 10:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. can try the new Mac Jr. sandwich for free while supplies last.

The Mac Jr. packs the punch of the Big Mac, but in a smaller size with a single layer of beef, the eatery said. The sandwich is tailored for eaters on the go.

The free sandwiches will be available both inside the restaurant and via drive-thru. Customers are encouraged to share their “first taste” pictures on social media using the hashtag #ATLLovesMacJr.

“You’ll know there’s something different when you visit this McDonald’s restaurant, with a building wrap, special Mac Jr. drive-thru, dedicated menu boards and social media stations all heralding this first free taste of the new sandwich for Atlantans,” David Hamilton, president of the Greater Atlanta McDonald’s Operators Association, said in a news release. “A whole new generation is trying out the iconic Big Mac for size, and we are delighted to share the new Mac Jr. with new and old fans alike.”

Kennesaw Mayor Derek Easterling is expected at the event along with Kennesaw State cheerleaders, Scrappy the mascot and radio personalities from Power 96 FM.

While the Mac Jr. will be the main menu item for the Kennesaw location for most of the day, visitors can expect more deals to compliment the sandwich:

• $2 small- and $2.50 medium-size French fries and soft drinks
• $4 All-white-meat, 10-piece Chicken McNugget meal
• $2.99 Happy Meals w/ Chicken McNuggets for children

McDonald’s will roll out the Mac Jr. at all its participating eateries following the event. Free sandwiches will be offered at two other locations in metro Atlanta, one on Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard in Atlanta, and the location on Buford Highway in Doraville.
