KSU All Clear, Nearby Shooting Suspect In Custody: Cobb Police
A suspect was arrested in connection with a nearby shooting that locked down Kennesaw State University for hours and left one man dead.
KENNESAW, GA — Cobb County police have given the all clear at Kennesaw State University after locking the campus down due to an escaped suspect in a nearby shooting.
Around 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Cobb police got a call about a person shot at Town Crossing Apartments, which is just across Interstate 75 from KSU. Police found a man suffering from a gunshot wound at the scene, who died from his injuries.
Officers began searching the area, including the KSU campus. The school was alerted of a possible armed suspect, and university officials chose to activate the lockdown process.

Students, staff and faculty were told to "secure in place" as police searched for the suspect, who was arrested as of 6:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to The Marietta Daily Journal, multiple officers were seen with rifles out on the grounds of the Austin Residence Complex, which is located near the intersection of Chastain Road and Kennesaw State University Road.

An emergency alert from KSU said "stay inside, lock doors and windows" due to "potentially armed suspects reported on the Kennesaw campus."
Cobb County Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Wayne Delk said it appeared to be a drug-related shooting.
Police did not provide any other information about the shooting victim, the suspect or the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
