Police are asking for the public's help in identifying those who left the scene.

KENNESAW, GA — A Kennesaw State University student was left with a bloodied nose after he said he was attacked by two men and called a racial slur in what police say could be a racially motivated attack.

It is unclear what led to the confrontation. The student, who is Black, told police he was attacked for no apparent reason while he was exiting his car just after midnight Sunday at the West 22 Apartment Complex.

The police report provides detail into what occurred but did not give a complete snapshot of what happened.

When police arrived, the student was found with a bloody nose, according to the report. The student told police he was attacked by the two white men "for no reason," and that no one had a gun, according to the report.

He told police one of the men had a thick sweater with stripes and had blonde hair. He said the second man was about 5-feet-8-inches with blonde hair and was wearing a grey sweatshirt, according to the report.

The student told police the two men ran into a fraternity house after the fight, according to the report. About 10 people were seen yelling outside in the area, multiple witnesses told police.

Multiple witnesses told officers that a man, who was not the student, was seen knocking on a person's door and asking to come inside of the apartment, claiming to have been attacked, according to the report.

The resident of the apartment described the white man as being in his early 20s, who was about 6-feet-1 with blonde hair, wearing black pajama pants and a grey hoodie, according to the report.

Police were told three Black men were outside of the apartment banging on the door looking for him. The resident said he did not open the door and the group left. The man inside of the apartment left afterwards.

The Kennesaw State student was taken to the hospital by his roommate.

The two men left the scene before police arrived. Police are asking for the public's help in identifying those who left the complex.

Police are trying to speak to the occupants of a Jeep Wrangler that was at the scene. It is unknown how the Wrangler is connected to the incident.

All motives are being explored in the case though police said the attack could ultimately be racially motivated.

Kennesaw State said the university is aware of the attack and is in contact with the student and local police.

"We do not condone any acts of violence or racism. The university encourages any member of the campus community who may have information relating to this incident to contact Student Affairs, KSU Police or the City of Kennesaw Police Department," the university said in a statement. "We want to be clear – we care deeply about all of our students, and want students to feel safe at all times."
