The fiscal year 2014 budget proposed by Cobb Commission Chairman Tim Lee on Tuesday is a nearly one-percent increase from this year's budget, but would include a small property tax cut.
It also includes performance-based pay increases for full-time county employees of up to three percent.
Lee, who outlined the $744.6 million budget plan during a work session (see attached PDF), included a reduction in the millage rate 0.2 mills to 7.32 mills that was approved last month by the Cobb Board of Commissioners. The estimated savings would be $14 for a taxpayer with a $200,000 home and $38 on a home valued at $500,000.
The fiscal year 2014 budget begins on Oct. 1 and ends on Sept. 30, 2014.
A public hearing on the budget proposal will take place next Wednesday, Sept. 3, at 2 p.m.
The budget is scheduled to be adopted on Sept. 10.
