Georgia's first lady will promote reading literacy at the Goddard School as part of Read Across Georgia Month.

KENNESAW, GA -- Georgia First Lady Sandra Deal will make an appearance at the Goddard School in Kennesaw on Friday to read to preschoolers as part of a literacy initiative.
The program is in honor of Read Across Georgia Month and promotes giving to those in need.
Deal has been traveling across the state reading to pre-K students to help improve the literacy rate among Georgia's children.

“Learning to read is a language skill that has been proven to increase the quality of life, especially when it is developed at an early age,” Deal said in a statement earlier this month. “Our goal is for every Georgian to have the literacy skills necessary to provide for themselves and their families. By modeling and engaging with students, I hope to encourage children to want to learn to read for themselves. Knowledge is power and we want to give them the confidence to acquire that power.”
Deal is set to read to the children at 10:15 a.m. at the schoool, located at 3190 Blue Springs Road.
