Smith-Gilbert Gardens Earns New Accreditation
"This represents the acknowledgment of goals specific to public gardens, including tree conservation," Gardens Executive Director Doug Davis said.

Smith-Gilbert Gardens has been approved for Level II accreditation through the ArbNet Program, it was recently announced by Gardens Executive Director Doug Davis. By achieving particular standards of professional practices deemed important for arboreta and botanic gardens, Smith-Gilbert is now recognized amongst other professional public gardens in the Morton Register of Arboreta. ArbNet, the Morton Register and the Accreditation Program are coordinated by The Morton Arboretum as an international initiative to support the work of arboreta in saving and planting trees.
“This represents the acknowledgment of goals specific to public gardens, including tree conservation,” Davis said. “As part of this association, we have a shared purpose with other gardens to plant and conserve trees. We will be able to share knowledge, experience, and other resources with other arboreta in our collective efforts to carry out a mission for a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world.”
