1 Dead, 6 Injured In Shooting At GA Party: Reports

A Georgia house party turned deadly when a shooting killed a man and injured six people, media reports say.

LAGRANGE, GA — A shooting in LaGrange left a man dead, and six others injured, Sunday at a house party, media reports say.

The deadly shooting happened around 1 a.m. at Seminary Street, both WAGA-TV and the LaGrange Daily News reported.

LaGrange Police identified the man as Javeon Dukes, 19, who died shortly after arriving at WellStar West Georgia Medical Center, according to both news outlets.

Six other people were treated at hospitals, and some of them have since been released, the Daily News reported.

"It was a party - a backyard party - and they shot into a crowd of kids," family member Shant Dukes told WAGA-TV. "It was at my cousin's house around the corner, and there were gunshots. One of my cousins was pronounced dead, and one in critical condition, and a couple females got shot. It's sad. It's pitiful. People need to sit down and get they children and make them sit down and stop all this killing. They do all this killing and shooting down here, and nothing's done about it. ..."

A motive in the shooting was not revealed, and it is unknown if anyone has been arrested in connection with the deadly shooting.
