1 Driver In ICU, Officer Is Stable After I-85 Shutdown Accident

A driver is still in ICU, while a Gwinnett police officer is now in stable condition after Monday's 4-car accident that shut down I-85.

GWINNETT COUNTY, GA -- A driver is still in serious condition, while the Gwinnett County police officer is in stable condition after Monday's four-car accident that shut down I-85 for 2.5 hours.

Driver Sarah Wood, 33, of Hoschton, is still hospitalized in serious condition. The officer has been identified as Todd Ramsey, 22-year veteran. Ramsey has been moved out of ICU and is still hospitalized in serious but stable condition.

The driver of the third vehicle has been identified as Yosha Burnside, 21, of Lawrenceville. The driver of the fourth vehicle has been identified as James Carolus, 31, of Carnesville.

Police report that Ramsey was traveling north on I-85 in lane two in his marked patrol car. He struck the rear end of Wood's car which began the chain of events. The collision is being investigated by the Accident Investigation Unit and the investigation is still ongoing.

The accident occurred shortly before 5:30 p.m. on I-85N south of Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road in unincorporated Suwanee.

The cause of the collision is still being investigated, police said.
