Local agencies in Gwinnett reported several stranded cars blocking roadways.

In a recent update, police said abandoned cars left on Paper Mill Road needed to be removed quickly Wednesday afternoon.

Around 4 p.m., Snellville Police reported improving road conditions, particularly in the area of Scenic Highway and US-78/GA-10. Neighborhood and side streets were mostly passable, police said.

"If you left your vehicle behind, now is the time to retrieve it. While it may not be necessary to drive it all the way home, it is important to remove it from the roadway," Snellville Police said.

Police added they were attempting to contact registered owners. Any cars left in travel lanes were being removed due to hazards, police said.

These areas were listed as the main areas of concern: Oak Road, Mountain View, Pinehurst Road, Ridgedale Road, Pharrs Road, Skyland Drive, Springdale Road, Club Drive, Millbrook Drive and Tanglewood Drive.

Lilburn Police said the following roads have been cleared: Penrod Place, Cover Place, Bowersbrook, Nathan Drive, Inland Way, Jay's Way, Harvard, Huntshire and Amsterdam.

Game wardens with the Georgia Department of Natural Resources were helping stranded drivers and were assisting agencies with accident response on the "hazardous roads," the department said on Facebook.

"If you don’t have to travel, please stay home. Let’s work together to keep everyone safe," the DNR said.
