$3 Million for Man Who Died in 3-Way

In March 2009, 31-year-old William Martinez of Lawrenceville went to the doctor complaining of chest pains. Martinez, who had a history of high blood pressure and a risk of clogged arteries, was scheduled for a stress test eight days later.

Seven days later, the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, Martinez died while engaged in three-way sex with a friend and a woman who wasn't his wife.

And on May 29, 2012, a Gwinnett County jury awarded $3 million to survivors of Martinez, who was married with two children. The jury agreed with the family's lawyers that Martinez' doctor should have warned him to knock off physical activity until his stress test.

Jurors were asked by the plaintiffs to award $5 million but decided that Martinez was 40 percent responsible for his own death, the AJC reports. Lawyers for cardiologist Sreenivasulu Gangasani and in Lawrenceville told the paper they planned to appeal.
