Gwinnett County Parks And Recreation Receives Awards

The Georgia Recreation and Park Association, District 7 awarded the Roy A. Hammond Leadership Award to David Clark, Deputy Director of Park Operations for Gwinnett County Parks and Recreation (GCPR). The Roy A. Hammond Leadership Award is given to those who embody what a Recreation and Park professional should be and to be a leader who enjoys the special privileges of complexity, of ambiguity, and diversity. To be a leader means having the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others who lead.  Dedicated, focused and always engaging, David is a true leader, and through his leadership over a 37-year career he has elevated the staff, his professional organization and his peers enhancing the “state of” parks and recreation across the state of Georgia. GCPR would like to congratulate David Clark on this much deserving award.

In addition to the Roy A. Hammond Leadership Award, the GRPA District 7 Volunteer Award was given to Gregg Peters, volunteer youth coach for the GCPR athletic program, Mustang Athletics. “Gregg is an incredible asset to GCPR and the Mustang Athletics community” said Tina Fleming, Parks and Recreation Operations Division Director. He has coached as many as 4 soccer teams in one season plus helped educate and train other “rookie” coaches. Gregg was the GCPR Volunteer of the Year in 2010 for the tireless work and assistance he provided to GCPR with the most volunteer hours within Gwinnett County. He has also won the 2011 and 2010 Gold Presidential Volunteer award which is given to those who volunteer more than 500 hours in a given year.
