According to the preliminary investigation, officers of the Hamilton Township Police Department responded to a residence on Orchard Avenue in response to a 911 call about a domestic dispute.
During the encounter, Correa exchanged gunfire with Officers Derek Fiabane and Paul Piromalli. Both Fiabane and Correa suffered multiple gunshot wounds in the exchange.

Officers and emergency medical personnel rendered first aid to Correa, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The injured officer was hospitalized with non-fatal injuries.
A rifle and a handgun were recovered from Correa’s person, authorities said.
Officials previously released footage from two police body-worn cameras related to the shooting. Those recordings were posted online.
