Gwinnett School Schedules Set After GA's Winter Storm

School officials in Gwinnett County have decided whether or not to open campuses on Wednesday as wintry weather lingers in GA.

LAWRENCEVILLE, GA — Schools in Gwinnett County will close Wednesday, a day after a southern winter storm brought freezing temperatures and snow to Georgia.

Gwinnett County schools will shift to a digital learning day. School officials on Tuesday said the change was made due to expected overnight freezing temperatures.

School staff members and central office employees will work remotely, and extracurricular activities will be canceled or rescheduled, school officials said.

Additionally, all schools, the Instructional Support Center and other administrative offices will be closed, school officials said.

Building and ground maintenance staff will "safely report" to buildings to complete their duties, while classified staff will continue with their scheduled online professional development, school officials said.

"We will keep monitoring the weather and sharing updates as needed. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prioritize the safety and well-being of our students and staff. Stay safe and warm," school officials said in a Facebook post.
