Lawrenceville Native Trains Afghan Troops

Lawrenceville native Mitchell H. Hamilton recently helped new Afghan soldiers fire their first artillery rounds.

Staff Sgt. Hamilton, an advisor with the Combat Support Advisory Team attached to 1st Battalion, 12th Marine Regiment, assisted the Afghan National Army soldiers set up their artillery cannons during a training exercise.

"They were excited and paid attention to the training,” Hamilton said in a report for the Defense Video & Imagery Distribution System. “They learned and caught on very quickly. Even with the lack of interpreters at times, it was amazing to see how fast they caught on.”
