Man Breaks Into Home To Change Clothes, Hoping To Elude Police
After a 4-hour manhunt Gwinnett deputies caught a man suspected of armed robbery and aggravated assault, they said.

LAWEENCEVILLE, GA -- A man wanted on charges of armed robbery and aggravated assault is in jail after leading deputies assigned to our Fugitive Unit on a four-hour manhunt Friday.
When deputies attempted to stop a vehicle driven by fugitive Alfonso Hidalgo to serve arrest warrants, he refused to stop. He lost control of his vehicle and crashed near Camp Perrin Road and Cedar Drive before fleeing on foot into nearby woods.
Responding deputies, along with officers from Gwinnett County Police and Lawrenceville Police quickly established a perimeter, but had not yet located him yet when a concerned citizen dialed 911 after witnessing a suspicious person climbing over the fence of a neighborβs yard.

Hidalgo was located hiding under a deck behind the residence after breaking into a home and changing into the homeownerβs clothes in an attempt to disguise his appearance. He was taken into custody without further incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail, where deputies are seeking additional arrest warrants.
Sheriff Butch Conway praised the efforts of our deputies involved with this case saying, βOur deputies did a great job apprehending this suspect. They work hard every day to bring fugitives to justice and Iβm proud of the good work they do. I also appreciate the support of responding Gwinnett County and Lawrenceville Police officers who helped ensure this fugitive went to jail today."
