Missing Boy Found Dead In Gwinnett Pond: Police

Gwinnett County Police say the nonverbal child disappeared from his home after jumping over a balcony. He was found dead Friday.

LAWRENCVILLE, GA — A missing 5-year-old nonverbal boy police say jumped over his apartment balcony has been found dead in a retention pond behind his Sweetwater Road home.

Gwinnett County Police said Indi Bullock disappeared around 4:30 p.m. Thursday from his apartment. Authorities across multiple agencies led a search for him that stretched into Friday morning.

The Hall County Sheriff’s Department dive team and Gwinnett County Fire Department Swift Water Rescue team found Bullock in the pond behind his apartment complex, police said.

No foul play is suspected in his death, police said. The Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to determine an official manner of death.

The multi-agency search for Bullock included the use of a helicopter, drones, a remote-operated submarine and thermal imaging cameras.

A GoFundMe has been established to assist with funeral expenses.

"Indi was a bright, beautiful soul who brought joy to everyone who knew him," organizer Chakia Carter wrote in the GoFundMe. "His absence leaves a void that can never be filled. As we process this tragedy, we are asking for support to help cover funeral expenses and provide relief to his grieving family during this incredibly difficult time."

As of midday Friday, nearly $1,200 of the $20,000 goal had been raised.

"We express our sincere gratitude to all the departments and agencies involved in the search operations," police said in a news release.
