Davis to lead Gwinnett's Department of Curriculum and Instruction

During a special called meeting on Nov. 3, 2011, the Gwinnett County Board of Education approved the appointment of Mary Elizabeth Davis as executive director of curriculum and instruction, an appointment recommended by CEO/Superintendent J. Alvin Wilbanks.

In her new role, Davis also will serve the school district as a member of the Superintendent’s Cabinet. She will lead the school district’s department of curriculum and instruction, working with the different curriculum areas (language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, fine arts, foreign language, etc.) to support teaching and learning. Her appointment bcame effective immediately as current executive director Tricia Kennedy has been tapped to lead the district’s eClass initiative as the executive director of eClass Transformation.
