
Some local Gwinnett County schools were among the almost 100 in the system selected for top awards during the 2011 International Student Media Festival.
At the annual event, which celebrates excellence in student media projects, 90 of GCPS entries received the Excellence in Media Production award. Of those 90 projects, 36 were awarded Judge’s Favorite and one school, Mason Elementary, received the top honor - Best of Festival. Award-winning entries included projects in animation, live action, web sites and sequential and interactive stills. Mason Elementary received the top award for “Sew What? American History of a Patchwork of Stories,” under the direction of teacher Abby Lockhart.
